At the Heaven Hill warehouses in Bardstown, Kentucky, a fire started in the afternoon on Nov. 7 that eventually destroyed nearly 100,000 barrels of bourbon. Toyota is recalling roughly 1.9 million RAV4 sport utility vehicles in the U.S. because the batteries can shift during sharp turns and potentially cause a fire. Lithium batteries typically aren't allowed in landfills, but many still make it into the garbage stream. Exploding lithium-ion batteries are leading to more fires in Oregon's landfills and recycling centers, prompting action from state and local governments.
